Most importantly a degree does not make them a good person. What matters the most is who the guy is and how he treats you. Nobody deserves to be judged for that, we all come from different backgrounds. Ive known plenty of rotten spoiled brats who went to college and have an aura of entitlement. While i know people who worked hard to earn a living to become successful and mature adults.
Interestingly enough, he would always get fired from his jobs. He lives with his parents at the ripe age of 34, yet still loves to brag about having a degree. College is a choice people make, to pursue a certain amount of knowledge in a field that interests them. Then with that knowledge they obtain a certificate and begin working. It does not mean they will be successful, it does not mean they are smart or better tha everyone else … It only means they went to college to work in a field that interests them.
You get to be alongside them during some of the best times of their life.
Go over the topics of consent, feeling safe and comfortable, and honoring their own and the other person’s feelings. Most importantly, tell them what you expect in terms of being respectful of their dating partner and vice versa. Talk about the basics too, like how to behave when meeting a date’s parents or how to be respectful while you’re on a date. Make sure your teen knows to show courtesy by being on time and not texting friends throughout the date. Instead, first dates may be awkward or they may not end in romance. All I’m saying is that you may want to look at other criteria first and foremost, and you just might find out that dating a man with less of education with you isn’t a big deal. I’m not telling you not to have standards when it comes to who you want to date, but I am however telling you that maybe dating someone with higher education may not be as big of a deal as you may think. I had to really ask myself why this matters so much, or if it really did honestly. As with anything, you want a good man that is going to treat you right and there are some things that are beyond a compromise—but education may be something that is a non-factor. You may also find that if things progress, you can ask the questions and learn more about the individual that you are interested in. I did not find this simplicity in my previous relationships, where there was inconsistent communication.
